Do you know what's in your CBD?

The FDA has said that “CBD products currently sold in the United States are unregulated and untested and that its own testing has revealed that some CBD products contain toxic metals, pesticides and THC."

Nearly 64 million Americans have admitted to using CBD for aliments ranging from chronic pain and anxiety to seizure disorders and cancer.

However, when a purity lab tested 240 of the top selling CBD products, 70% were found "highly contaminated" with heavy metals like lead and arsenic, herbicides, pesticides, BPA, toxic mold, and more! While CBD is a wildly effective way to treat a variety of ailments, the lack of regulation in this industry means that many people do not know where their CBD comes from or what it contains.

the problem

The FDA is responsible for protecting public health by regulating human drugs and biologics, animal drugs, medical devices, tobacco products, food and cosmetics.

However, even though CBD can be used in all of these forms, it is not regulated by the FDA.

the problem

The 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act (also known as the Farm Bill) allowed farmers across 46 of the United States to grow hemp that contains less than .3% of THC.

While this allowed Americans to have greater access to the healing benefits of CBD like never before, there has been no update in the safety regulation for the consumption of CBD.

the problem

There are many CBD products on the market now, but the average consumer is still unable to know if their CBD products are safe, containing only CBD –– let alone where or how they are grown. All of this has a huge effect on the purity and efficacy of CBD products.

Ways to consume

The way you consume CBD plays a critical role in how long it will take to feel its effects and each method has its own pros and cons.

Edibles

The name says it all - from mouth-watering brownies, to smoothies and soup, beneficial CBD can be infused into almost anything you eat!

Under the tongue

CBD products can be made into a tincture, which, you can easily spray into your mouth or drop under the tongue, to be absorbed directly into the blood vessels in the mouth.

Topicals

Topical ointments and creams are two of the most common forms of CBD products. They can be used effectively for skin, muscle or joint issues, and to relieve muscle aches and pains, but topicals will not be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Inhalation

Of course, you can smoke or "vape" CBD oil or flower, which is one of the most effective ways to experience its benefits. CBD oil cartridges typically look like a metal or plastic cylinder or cartridge with a mouthpiece and often have flavoring ("Terpenes") added. They screw or fit into what is commonly known as a “pen” or battery and they can be completely disposable. Additionally, the CBD oil (and flower) can be smoked directly through a glass pipe or in a store-bought CBD cigarettes or you can pack or roll your own using herbal wraps.

Edibles

CBD can also be made into a tincture. When sprayed or dropped under the tongue, the CBD is absorbed directly into the blood vessels in the mouth.

Duration:
After 6-8 hours, most of the CBD has been metabolized or eliminated from the body.
